polka dots

i've been thinking about changing the layout of this wee little blog. get more creative, make it more personal and unique. so i have dabbled with the design and tried to find something i love, love, love. i have lurked around the house for inspiration. nothing has popped out at me. this has been frustrating because i am so envious of those other blogs out there. but, no worries.....because i have discovered something. i love polka dots. they are happy and cute and they are doing a great job!

pretties

i believe i have come to a conclusion. when you share a home with other people (a husband) it may not be appropriate to apply every decorating whim upon them. for example, i have a strong love of old lovely, flowery, glittery, nostalgic girly stuff. some people in my house(husband) would prefer just about the opposite. leaning more towards leathery, rusty, woody, sports bar stuff. so i will find the balance. because i love them(him). perhaps i will satisfy my needs by flipping through these lovely books i own. i am willing to compromise. maybe we could each have our own "space". i believe his style would really look fabulous in his favorite places. the workshop, the furnace room and if he's lucky maybe the garage too... i am ok with that. really, i am.

give me an hour

it's been one of those weeks. busy busy, taking care of the little family. we packed alot into those seven days. what got me through it? .....................monday. so after i helped them all out the door this morning i decided i must first go run some errands before i have any fun. before i do anything nice for me. but along the way was the second hand store. look at the cute bunny and milkglass vase. then i was off to get coffee on sale............ look at the pretty beads, ribbon and tops (for the girls, but i will love how precious they look in them). i thought i would just scoot into the dollar store before i pick up the groceries. oodles of easter coloured tissue.....and more beads. i did manage to buy the food i left the house for.

too cold to shop

"Reading gives us someplace to go when we have to stay where we are."
it was a very very chilly day today. people were rushing past the door. perhaps making a deposit or picking up a parcel. only a brave few were in the mood to shop and so things were quiet...very quiet. i was grateful to have a fresh book to dive into. crisp and clean. brand-spanking new. awfully glad i had it to keep me company today. i'm taking it to bed with me too. a few chapters in and it has me hooked already. i bought it because of the cover. isn't it a shame when the book doesn't come close to being as lovely as its beautifully designed package?

hockey done right

I can honestly say that hockey has never been something that has excited me. Then again I have never done hockey like this before. How nice it was to have someone drive us right into the city and drop us off a few feet from the entrance. From there we were directed to the private elevator where a very good mannered operator escorted us to the top. So there we ended up, high above the crowds, with a fantastic perspective. They fed us well and the boys won the game! Did I mention it was all free? I would do this kind of hockey again....and often. Go Leafs!

allie can be such a sweetie

she makes me smile. funny little cat. so smart. she hunts mice to earn her keep. what a good girl.

i am so happy

it is a beauty of a day

AND it is monday

AND i went skiing......

the hill was in perfect condition and there were no line-ups at the lifts. the sun was warm and bright. what more could i ask for? i love to ski. love it.

could it be more perfect? being alone on the lift as it carried me to the top and turning back to see the view....well it brought tears to my eyes. it is all coming back to me. my heart's desire, my fondest memories...i LOVE being there. fresh air and the wind in my face.

i couldn't stop smiling.

very, very happy for me.

and then i came home and had a nice bowl of vegetable chili. mmmm with sour cream.

perfect.

i am so lucky.

growing up

A quote from My Sister's Keeper by Jodi Picoult...
"Goldfish get big enough only for the bowl you put them in. Bonsai trees twist in minature. I would give anything to keep her little. They outgrow us much faster than we outgrow them."
oh why can't they just stay three?

i wish i was three

she's so lucky. a striped knit hoody. polka-dot stretchy pants. a sweet piggy bank. the cutest rubber boots EVER.
my neice turned 3 today. let me tell you about this girl.
she has the prettiest brown eyes i have even seen.
i am amazed by her talent. supergirl jumps. landing balanced on those wee little feet.
words, so, so, so many words.
and she can sing
and tell stories
and she loves her girls em and cc, allie too.
my heart melts when she calls for me....auntie? because it is always a question.
have you seen my new bed?
want to jump on it?
she wanted to have the piece of cake with the princess on it.
but it was in the middle.
and she didn't even cry....she's 3 now.
and today i remembered how small she was when they brought her home.
she slept in my arms while i just layed there. crying happy tears. looking at her perfect nose and those rosebud lips.
and now she's 3.
i love you t
