discovering...day 6

dogs are like people.
they come in all shapes, sizes, colours and temperaments.
they can also fall under the personalty trait
of "Highly Sensitive".
about 20% of all animals do...
even fruit flies!

most dog owners don't have a lot of knowledge
about sensitive dogs...
i know i didn't.

these dogs need plenty of opportunity to do well
and receive rewards so that their
confidence can grow.
they need a bit longer to learn trust.
any negative reactions will harm them,
they only respond well to positive rewards.

these sweet dogs learn very quickly,
they are tuned into their environment
and they can read their owners like a book.

a gentle touch,
quiet and calm surroundings...
and take care because it's so easy to damage
the HSDog...
i wish i'd known this when he arrived...
but when we know better, we do better.
i'm not sure he'll be making a trip back to
that noisy dog kennel ever again.
i know it kind of freaked him out
and changed his nature.

tomorrow....
how about we learn about HSP and intuition?

ok...get ready...

...right after we have one more lazy day...
i'm going to get my butt in gear
things are going to happen
i'm going to get creative
things will get organized
great meals will be prepared
laundry piles will disappear
floors will shine
rooms will get painted ....
i'll get moving on the treadmill
i'll make smoothies
and lists
and i'll read
and do yoga
and nap...
honestly, once the girls are back in school
i'll be getting busy!
what's on your list?

today...around the house...

today it's rainy with the occasional snowflake.
oliver is being cute.
...i'm feeling a deep desire need to blog.

i would also like to show off my new favorite thing...
can't wait to pretty her up for the holidays!

on a day like this...i'm glad to have a pot of coffee on.
this little nook always makes me feel good.
i just need to take the time to appreciate it more often.

and while i've got you here...
i LOVE that my girls are self-governing their bathroom.

peek into elsie's room...

...and emma's.
ruffled patent leather heals and a periodic table
she's no simple girl...

so that's it for today.
i feel better.
do you?

bits of our thanksgiving weekend...

elsie enjoyed what might be her last hammock nap of the season

oliver sat still for 2 minutes so that i could capture his cuteness

i kept things simple...

here we were, waiting for the turkey, cameras in hand.
who else took a photo of the cranberry sauce?

okey dokey..... here's oliver

our newest family member. oliver starr. he is charming, adorable, smart. he is now 9 weeks old and about 4 pounds. we love him!

it makes me giggle every time he runs and his little ears are flapping away...he is so small. it's almost weird to be honest. weird but terribly cute.

a furry little bundle of love.
