thank you mr bublé...

i have 6 days until friends come to drink wine...
there still isn't snow
but today,
thanks to mr bublé's new christmas cd,
i kinda got in the mood.

i just stuck that cd in the slot
and hit the repeat button...
2 cups of coffee and a hearty brunch
(cheesy omelette, maple ham and home fries)
gave me the energy to tackle the christmas boxes.

...and it started to happen...
the magic.
little bits of it here and there.
twinkle lights are the best aren't they?
xox
my grandma moses came out again.
this year i like it over the fireplace.
i can't stop looking at it.

tomorrow is phase 2.

i need another snowstorm..

there.
i said it.
i think i should tattoo this on my forehead.
i should record it on my outgoing message.
i want to paint in on the side of my house.

oy.
people are funny.
but not really....

be kind.
use you heart.
think before you speak.

...enough said.

i really do need another snowstorm.
things are back to brown and grey and green again.
i am wishing for a blustery, blowing day
that brings big fluffy flakes...
covering the trees
until they droop.
i'm having a party next week
and if i don't see snow
it's going to be hard to put up a tree
and try to pretend that winter is here.
...something about that blanket of white stuff...
it just kind of settles me down.
brings me some peace.
creates a filter and
softens the world around me.
...
be nice out there

winter is in the air...i can smell it.

we've been very lucky so far...
the snow has held off,
but the other night before i went to bed
i looked out the window and saw this.

...and in the morning
things were looking like a winter wonderland.
it was just the right amount.
no one's day was ruined,
the school buses were still running...
but it was a good reminder that winter
should be arriving any minute now.
kind of got me excited to pull out the
christmas pretties.
(you know how i love them)

last night i went into town
and brought my camera.
(jann was in town...)
after grocery shopping
i stopped to get this shot.
i just stood there,
convinced that there was no way
that i could capture the beauty
of the moonlit lake.
a shooting star flashed across the sky
and inspired me to at least try.
...i love this place...
even with winter on it's way.

Jann Arden...At 17...my favourite right now...

Jann.....

Jann Arden.
She's as real as you can get.
I have been a big fan for many years.
I have been to five concerts
and I own every cd, dvd and book she has out there.
She is my favourite.

I don't think she realizes how amazing she is.

How could she know that her voice
not only sounds beautiful...
but it has an ability to touch my heart?

Her talents go way beyond song writing and singing...
she is clever and funny,
perfect for radio.
Fun to watch on tv.

Her accomplishments are many.
She is a Canadian sweetheart...

For the last few weeks she has been promoting
her new book and new cd.
The book is a memoir and her
personal story reads like a novel.
It is funny, happy, smart, honest and sad.
Just like her.
I now can relate to her on a whole new level.
Her songs have brand new meanings to me.
She is sincerely pouring out her heart.
Her songs are personal and honest.

I've never made it a habit to go out of my way
to meet a celebrity...but last week I did,
without hesitation.
After years of supporting her
it was nice that she knew who i was.
We've corresponded and I
have always been thankful of how she took the time
to stay in touch with me.
I hope she knows that this visit had nothing to do
with getting an autograph or two...
I just wanted to tell her how much I appreciated her.
Everyone needs to hear it...
no matter who they are.

So as if my week could get any better...
front row and centre tickets.

The show was in the most beautiful
auditorium I have ever been to.
(Jann mentioned something the same)

It was a charity concert
and Jann sent us all home with signed books.
There was no photography during the performance...
and I'm glad.
I might have missed the special looks she sent my way.
It was a night I'll never forget...
completely spoiled now for any future concerts.
It was like no one else was in the building.
Cozy and personal.
Like always, her music moved me to tears...
Thanks Jann.
