i think i can

getting all enthusiastic. thinking positive. optimistic even. here i go again. being a worry wort. leanne, it's only 18 dollars worth of fabric. why all the anxiety?
hey, i know i can sew. i made this bag.... the stitching is neat and tidy. it is a very smart little bag. i was reminded of it after i saw the one that alicia had made for herself (of course hers is patchwork and is soooo pretty)(i love alicia).
i haven't made a dress in about 12 years. i now have a beautiful new machine, which i am sure will make this easy as pie. i am hoping to start it tomorrow, unless it is a warm sunny day out because then it would be a shame to not be out in the yard. i have lots of new plants to get into the garden. russian sage, lavender, bee balm, hydrangea and a lilac. lots of blues and whites is what i'm going for. soft pinks would look nice against the house too...
get the dress done.
i know.

think and pink

well, i shall share my little project too. i don't know what kind of fabric this is. it feels nice and it is a good weight and the lady at the fabric store agreed with me that this was going to do the job. see that little bit of plaid down there in the corner shot...>>>>>

we're thinking it might make a pretty sash, something we can add later. just for fun.

i know i need to start this yesterday. i know, i know. i am a procrastinator. i thrive under pressure. emma is not like me. she wants her dress now.

so, i was tagged was i?

six word life motto.......

hmmmm

respect, empathize, live and love unconditionally.

that's just off the top of my head. had i the time to REALLY put some thought into it....well...it could be better. thanks blogger buddy elizabeth. now to think of who to pass along this challenge....

one dreamy dress

this dress was my mom's. she would have worn it to a highschool prom back in the late 50's. mom was one of those petite girls. she was always trying to put on weight by consuming many milkshakes at the local after school hangout. i must find a photo of her wearing this.
so, we got to thinking that if emma liked it perhaps she could wear it to her grade 8 grad. i knew it was small and i thought this might be the only chance to use it. unfortunately, emma has already outgrown it by about 2 inches in the bodice. what a shame...the colour is so pretty with her blonde hair....
this means i am back to square one, back to sewing her dream dress. it is similar in colour. maybe i will create a few dainty rosebuds and sneak them in somewhere. we want nanny to know we tried. i know she loved this dress and i am sure she had put it away in hopes of it being worn again. nanny, thank you. we are inspired by it.

oh honey....

having a hard time with this one. coming to grips with the fact that my baby girl is now 10. so much has gone on in my life since this angel arrived. difficult to deal with kind of stuff. elsie seemed to come just in time to help me get through it all. she has always been happy and smiling and she has more love to give than anyone else i know. for 10 years she has been filling my heart. two daughters, both so wonderful and so unique. emma, your turn to be embarassed by mommy's mushy love talk will come soon. today though, it's elsie's day. happy birthday lovey xoxo.

pretty in pink

remember that sweet girl of mine? the one in the polka dots? well she is turning ten in a few days, so of course ALL we have been talking about is THE PARTY! we were all set to have a picnic theme, but elsie is the little planner here and she has every right to change her mind as many times as she wants. after a little research she thought of having a PRETTY IN PINK PARTY. i cannot tell you how happy i am about this decision. i loved the movie, i love the colour. i love that i still have a girl young enough to think that pink is wonderful. we bought all sorts of lovely pink things. hats, balloons, plates, paper lanterns, bubble gum, lip gloss, key chains and flowers. what did we do before dollar stores?
emma still thinks pink is "awsome".... awsome.... she is 13 1/2. she is so not interested in a pink party though. instead, she wants a pink dress for her grade 8 grad. we went and bought the fabric and her favorite pattern. it said easy on the front. i am all for that. i will start it as soon as the PRETTY IN PINK PARTY is over. i will need all the time i can get. what the heck was i thinking?
