i had a couple more photos and thought i might as well share! i love flower frogs. i have a bunch of my own, but if i was someone wanting a collection this would have been a great start. only a couple duplicates here...

this little bird had flown into a window. it seemed fine, only stunned. the girl was kind of doing a show and tell for whoever was passing by. the bird didn't mind at all that we gave its feathery head a gentle petting. made the day extra special...

walkabout...good bargains found...part one

The Baysville Walkabout...an annual tradition in cottage country. Many vendors...new stuff, crafty stuff, food stuff and..old stuff. We got there early enough that I snagged a couple sweet finds. (next post!)

This whole set was $15...but I didn't get it. I really, really don't need it.

This pretty little kitchen set would have been great for my last two houses...but not this one. Someone else is probably very pleased with themselves right now.

I forgot to mention flowers...and a petting zoo. These lilies were way over my head. I have never seen such a thing. Beautiful.

part two

since it wasn't raining...'cause that's all its been doing this summer... we had a little bonfire, played a bit of badminton and roasted some marshmellows. it felt like summer and that's kind of what we were going for.

allie loves when her people come out and play with her...

the blackflies and mosquitoes were after us. i couldn't take it anymore so i headed in...the rest of the crew toughed it out. (i think my hair product was a kind of a bug magnet) i am keeping my fingers crossed that we will enjoy a few more nights like this....please mother nature, just give us a few more dry days!!

a summer night in the garden...part one

the garden is doing it's own thing. it's doing it well. i'll admit i haven't done much about it lately. the weather has been so dreary except for the last couple of days...haven't had much desire to hang out in the rain.

the sun has really made a difference...out popped so many new flowers....

i think they weren't sure what to do there for a while...maybe they were thinking that autumn was on it's way...

they must be a little confused, no spring...hardly any sunshine for summer...and then a blast of heat!

hope they're doing what i'm doing........enjoying it while it lasts. turning their faces to the sun. soaking it up.

a mary lake day

us girls had a day in the boat with my dad. it was just about the hottest and sunniest day so far this summer...we've been waiting for this day. i packed a lunch and we went cruisin'.

it begins with a little river which takes us past our swimming hole. lots of old pine, cedar and white birch trees. very pretty.

then it opens up to mary lake. lots of cottages, but still much of it is untouched. my photos do it no justice...the scale is somehow lost. this island it actually quite large...it's trees are giants.

it's so nice to be on the water...so much blue. the freshest air. a very hot sun. despite the lotion we ended up pink later in the evening...just like the sky...

treasures.....

this little green teapot came home from work with me the other day...i don't drink tea much, but she sure looks pretty on my windowsill. today we went on a little road trip and I had a bit of luck...

this print is a real keepsake. i brought it home from the cottage last summer. our poor old cottage is beyond repair and there is worry that the roof will fall in or the floor could collapse. my grandma told me to take whatever i would like. there are still some beautiful large pieces that i would love to bring home...but they would need a lot of tlc to get them back to their original condition. this small and damaged piece from a long time ago was without a frame. today i found this PERFECT frame!! i think it matches it so well because it is old and tattered too.

i had completely forgotten about it. all this time it has been hanging behind the cottage's kitchen door. when i saw it today i had one of those "moments". i had seen it hanging there all my life...we all had. but there it was looking so sad and dusty and lonely. just last week i had told several people that i was wanting a german cucko clock. i am travelling to germany at the end of the summer and it was the one and only thing i was planning on bringing home with me. this means so, so much more than a shiny new clock. it is missing some important parts and there is no guarantee that it will ever work, but none of that matters.

last, oh but not least. look at that pup! i found this last summer at the antique shop right down the road. way in the back there was an old musty cardboard box full of linens. hoping to find a treasure, i went though them all carefully. and there it was. (1/2 price too i might add) it is an adorable square piece with this design in each corner. i am in love with it! and also here is my newest ceramic...a pansy bowl. sigh...... i'm just skimming the top here...i gotta lot o' stuff....and while i've still got you here, what do you think of the new fresh look for summer? toodles xo

a family gathers...

We spent a lovely afternoon together. Family....dads, brothers, nephews... 

grandmas, moms, uncles, sisters, aunts, daughters, cousins........ you name them, they were there. 

It was an enjoyable little party. With nice people. Why don't we do this more often?
