recipe for recovery

what to do when you find yourself home alone, 24 hours post-surgery and hungry...add the fact that a low fat menu is all you have to choose from. not feeling up to a lengthy process either.

2 cans of no fat, low sodium chicken broth
1 can tomato soup
3 "cans" of water
1 cup pre-packaged soup mix (rice, barley, peas, lentils and beans)
1 or 2 cups frozen veggies (i had a bag of "spaghetti mix",onions, carrots, celery and peppers)
a sprinkling of "Mrs Dash" or whatever you like
bring the soup to a boil
add the soup mix and seasonings and simmer for about 45 minutes
add frozen veggies
simmer another 10 minutes
really yummy...kind of peppery. it gave me much needed energy and i have lots left for the next couple of days.
xo

if you need me...

i'll be here. i had surgery yesterday so i'm in super slow mode. apparently i take fuzzy photos when i'm taking pain killers. lol. i am just uncomfortable, but already feeling WAY better then yesterday. my bellybutton is very sensitive...no laughing or coughing allowed. bye bye gallbladder! nice knowing ya!
now i can go on a cruise. i don't know that i WILL...but i CAN. nice to not have to worry about it anymore. dr. jen told me i had a HUGE stone, about an inch in diameter. ANYWAY...i am so glad it was day surgery. i do not enjoy hospitals (who does?) , but the nurses were kind and i got to walk into the operating room and hop up onto the table. most people are not lucky enough (or healthy enough) to do that. we were all cracking jokes as i fell asleep (i LOVED that part). i was so glad to wake up....my first thought was "yay, i'm alive!!" and then it was "when do i get to go home?"......and so now i'm home. and i am so so grateful and content. elsie sat with me from 4 'till bedtime. holding my hand and giving me love. that girl....

IT'S LOVEY DAY AGAIN......

......and we have been celebrating for days.....it's been a busy house. I would have liked to have made a few more posts lately, but I have been painting and cleaning and shopping and entertaining.

OH and I went skiing!................then it rained. No worries. Winter ain't leaving yet.

I have made a decision. I must have fresh flowers in the house until spring. 'Cause it helps...
Happy Valentine's Day! Can you eat a cupcake with your morning coffee? Today...yes. xoxo
